When you imagine a baby duck it is probably a cute, fluffy yellow duckling. Pekin ducklings start off as tiny yellow fluffballs and rapidly grow into large white ducks, ready to lay eggs by 7-9 months old. Pekin ducks are very popular as pet ducks. These big white ducks are dual purpose – great egg layers and good meat birds.

About Pekin Ducks
Pekin ducks originated in Beijing, China. They were first imported into the United States in the late 1800s where Pekins quickly became the most popular duck on the market because of their delicious meat, white feathers, and abundant egg laying. Today, they are often kept as pets due to their calm temperament and adorable look.
Pekin ducks rarely go broody, so if you want to hatch baby ducks you will need an incubator. Read more about our favorite incubators here.
Adult Pekin ducks generally have a calm temperament. They are large ducks and generally weigh 8-9 pounds and lay 200-300 large white eggs per year.
How Off-Season Hatching Works
We hatch baby Pekin ducks monthly from March-August each year. If you are eager to get your ducklings during the fall or winter, we can help.
We can incubate 12 – 22 eggs at once for you. You pay for the ducklings when we set the eggs and we will refund you for any eggs that do not produce a duckling. Ducklings are $10 each and take about 28 days to hatch from the time they are set.
You must pick up your ducklings between 1-4 days old. We do not refund your payment if you fail to pick up your off-season ducklings. This is to make sure that only serious buyers have us hatch off-season babies.
